Dyed cotton

This piece was an experiment in layering textile print techniques. I began with a pink-dyed base, then printed purple borders, drawn by hand and processed through a light table. Using Thiox, I erased the pink dye from the interiors of nine squares, revealing a layout that included flowers in each corner, two mirrored snakes, and an abstract central shape. The flowers suggest cycles and regrowth; the snakes, transformation and duality. The abstract form radiates with a hand-painted halo, a symbol of energy. To finish, I sewed on a fabric backing, added light stuffing for dimension, and stitched the surface into a grid of nine squares—each holding its own moment within the larger whole.

This work became a kind of ritual in itself, undoing, layering, and rebuilding meaning through dye, discharge, and stitch.
